A 21-year-old U.S. Marine was fatally stabbed during a large fight in downtown Wilmington, North Carolina, on Easter Sunday. The incident occurred in the early hours of April 5 and is under investigation by local authorities.

According to police, officers responded to reports of a large altercation on North Front Street shortly after 2:00 a.m. The incident involved multiple individuals, and two men sustained stab wounds during the confrontation.

Both victims were transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. One of them, identified as Daniel Montano, later died as a result of his injuries.

Montano was an active-duty Marine stationed at Camp Lejeune. Authorities have not released full details regarding the circumstances leading up to the fight.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident and are seeking information to identify those responsible.
