A tragic incident involving human–elephant conflict claimed the life of a young man in Hojai district on Monday. The fatal encounter has once again highlighted the growing tensions between wildlife and local communities in the region.

According to officials, the young man died during an encounter with a wild elephant. Authorities described the incident as deeply unfortunate and extended their condolences to the victim’s family.

In a statement, the Forest Department expressed sorrow over the loss of life, offering heartfelt sympathies to the grieving family and praying for the soul of the deceased to rest in peace.

Human–elephant conflicts remain a serious concern in several parts of the region, where expanding human settlements and shrinking wildlife habitats have increased the frequency of such encounters. Forest officials have urged residents to remain cautious and to report elephant movement to authorities to help prevent further tragedies.
