A suspected robber was shot during an attempted robbery near the United States Consulate in São Paulo, Brazil.

The incident occurred on the morning of March 3 in the Chácara Santo Antônio neighborhood, in the city’s southern zone. According to reports, two suspects on a motorcycle approached a couple who were leaving the area near the consulate and attempted to rob them.

During the attempted robbery, one of the victims reacted and fired a weapon, hitting one of the suspects. The injured suspect fell to the ground and was later detained by authorities, while the second suspect managed to flee the scene.

Military Police units responded quickly to the location and secured the area. The wounded suspect was taken to a nearby hospital under police custody.

Authorities began searching the surrounding area for the second suspect and reviewing surveillance camera footage to determine the sequence of events. The investigation remains ongoing as police work to identify the individuals involved and clarify the circumstances of the attempted robbery.
