A shocking stabbing attack in broad daylight was captured on surveillance cameras in San Francisco’s Chinatown, leaving a man with life-threatening injuries.

The incident occurred around 1:13 p.m. near the intersection of Stockton and Sacramento streets. According to reports, the victim was standing at the intersection waiting to cross the street when the suspect suddenly approached him from behind.

Surveillance footage shows the suspect, dressed in a black hoodie and carrying a shopping bag, walking up to the victim and suddenly thrusting a knife into the man’s lower back before continuing to walk away from the scene.

After being stabbed, the victim grabbed his back and collapsed to his knees in visible pain. Bystanders nearby initially appeared unaware of what had happened, though one person later stopped to call for help.

Emergency responders arrived shortly afterward and transported the victim to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. His current condition has not been publicly confirmed.

Police later located and detained a suspect matching the description of the attacker on the 600 block of Powell Street. Authorities have not yet announced formal charges as the investigation continues.
