A 58-year-old construction worker died in a workplace accident on Tuesday afternoon, February 25, in the Fátima neighbourhood of Ciudad del Este, Paraguay. Authorities reported that the man was fatally injured when a wooden beam fell and struck him on the head while he was assisting with construction work at a private residence.

According to preliminary police information, the victim, identified as Doroteo Sosa Quiñónez, was opening a gate to allow a construction truck to enter the property when a wooden support beam, part of an unstable structure, became dislodged and fell.

Emergency services responded to the scene, and a medical examiner later confirmed that the cause of death was severe head trauma resulting from the impact.

The case has been reported to the public prosecutor’s office, and an investigation has been launched to determine whether there was any negligence or failure to comply with workplace safety regulations.
