An armed attack at a liquor store in Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, Ecuador, left one man dead and four others injured late on the night of Monday, February 23. The shooting occurred at approximately 10:50 p.m. on Abraham Calazacón Avenue, in front of Jelen Tenka Park, when several armed individuals arrived at the location and opened fire on a group of customers gathered outside the establishment.
The victim, identified as 35-year-old Hólger Manuel Valencia Farías, died at the scene after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds. His body was later removed by forensic authorities and transported to the corresponding medical legal center.
Four other men were injured in the shooting and were taken to Gustavo Domínguez Hospital for medical treatment. They were identified as Luis P., 34; Víctor C., 35; Juan C., 46; and Tony J., 36. Their medical conditions have not been officially disclosed.
Preliminary police investigations indicate that the assailants fled the scene immediately after the shooting. Authorities recovered multiple pieces of ballistic evidence at the site, including rifle shell casings. Specialized units of the National Police have launched an operation to identify and apprehend those responsible.
Officials stated that neither the deceased nor the injured individuals had known criminal records. The motive behind the attack remains under investigation.
