Teenager arrested after police chase in Teresina ends with two women injured in collision with stolen vehicle - Brazil

A teenager, whose identity has not been disclosed, was apprehended in flagrante delicto on Thursday afternoon (19) in the East Zone of Teresina, Piauí, Brazil, on suspicion of running over two women during a police pursuit.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Apolo 11 and Giovanni Prado streets and was captured on security cameras in the area.

According to Detective Marcelo Dias of the Vehicle Theft and Robbery Division (DRFV), officers were conducting investigations when suspects attempted to flee in a vehicle that had been reported stolen.

During the chase, the fleeing car collided with a motorcycle carrying two women, identified by the initials AMNT and SRS.

The 29th Battalion of the Military Police reported that the victims sustained multiple abrasions and fractures. Emergency response teams transported both women to a hospital for treatment. No updated information has been released regarding their current medical condition.

Authorities confirmed that the driver of the car was arrested at the scene, while other suspects managed to escape. In addition to the vehicle involved in the pursuit, police also recovered another stolen car that had been hidden nearby.

Investigations into the case remain ongoing.
