A young man was fatally shot Tuesday afternoon in the Morales neighborhood after armed assailants opened fire at close range before fleeing the scene.

Authorities received reports shortly after 4 p.m. that a man had been struck by gunfire on Bronce Street and was lying on the sidewalk. Municipal police officers and emergency responders arrived and attempted to render aid but determined the victim had already died from multiple gunshot wounds.

According to witnesses, the victim, known locally by the nickname “El Tito,” had been sitting on the sidewalk with two friends when several suspects arrived in a white vehicle. Two individuals reportedly exited the car and fired repeatedly at the victim before fleeing in the same vehicle.

Police secured the area as forensic personnel collected evidence, including multiple spent shell casings. The victim’s body was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

The State Attorney General’s Office has opened an investigation to identify and apprehend those responsible.
