The incident occurred late Sunday morning in Buluh Hadek village, located in the Teluk Dalam district of Simeulue Regency. The victim, a 36-year-old woman identified by the initials JW, had been gathering shellfish — a routine activity for many local residents — when a crocodile suddenly surfaced and attacked her.

People nearby reported hearing disturbance as the animal dragged her into the estuary, an area known locally as Muara Luan Boya. Residents and authorities immediately began efforts to rescue her.

Following an intense search, rescuers managed to retrieve the victim from the crocodile’s grip. She had sustained critical injuries and was declared dead soon after.

Local police and personnel from the Indonesian National Armed Forces attended the scene and are continuing to monitor the area to ensure public safety.
