Fatal Collision on BR-364 in Mato Grosso After Tow Truck Slips and Strikes Trailer

A man died in a serious traffic accident on the BR-364 highway in the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil, after a tow truck lost control and collided with a semi-trailer truck. The crash occurred on the afternoon of February 12, 2026, along the stretch of road between Várzea Grande and Jangada, where rainy conditions had made the pavement slippery.

According to authorities, the tow truck skidded on the wet surface, crossed into the opposite lane, and struck the semi-trailer head-on. The force of the impact caused the semi-truck’s tractor unit to leave the roadway and overturn into a nearby embankment.

The driver of the semi-trailer, identified as 57-year-old Valdeci Rodrigues dos Santos, was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of his injuries. The tow truck driver was not injured and declined medical treatment.

Police and emergency responders secured the area while traffic investigators began examining the circumstances of the collision, including weather conditions and the sequence of events leading up to the crash.
