A street sweeper was shot and killed on Wednesday night (11) while working near the Lajedo open-air market, next to CEALA, in the Agreste region of Pernambuco.

Emergency medical services (SAMU) were called to the scene, but the victim had already died by the time they arrived.

According to preliminary information, the victim was a resident of the city of Jucati and was known locally as “Zé de Jucati.” Authorities have not yet released information regarding the perpetrators or the motive behind the crime.

The Civil Police were notified and have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances of the shooting.
