A private security guard was injured in an armed attack that took place on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, inside a liquor store in the downtown area of Coatzacoalcos, in the state of Veracruz, Mexico. Authorities launched a security operation following the shooting.

The incident occurred at the establishment El Vikingo Gourmet, located at the intersection of Ignacio Zaragoza and Ignacio Aldama streets. According to preliminary reports, two individuals arrived on a motorcycle. One of them entered the business armed with a handgun and opened fire directly at the security guard. After leaving the store, the attacker attempted to fire additional shots, but his weapon reportedly malfunctioned.

Video footage circulating on social media shows the suspect handling the firearm, dropping ammunition, reloading, and firing again at the victim.

Emergency medical personnel treated the wounded guard at the scene before transporting him to Valentín Gómez Farías Hospital, where he remains under medical care.

Municipal police secured the area, and state authorities, federal investigators, and members of the Mexican Army joined the response. No arrests have been reported, and the investigation is ongoing.
