A 30-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the killing of a 22-year-old law student in Guarapari, Espírito Santo, Brazil.
According to police, the victim was attacked during a robbery while walking with his girlfriend along Avenida Oceânica. The suspect later confessed to the killing and told investigators he had robbed the student in order to obtain money to buy cocaine.
Authorities said the suspect traded the victim’s stolen cellphone for drugs. Two additional men were detained for allegedly receiving the stolen phone and being involved in drug-related activity.
During the incident, the student attempted to resist the robbery but was stabbed multiple times. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but the victim died from his injuries.
Three suspects aged 18, 30, and 42 are in custody. The primary suspect faces charges of robbery resulting in death, while the others are being held for receiving stolen property and drug offenses.
The victim’s body was transported to a forensic institute and will be released to his family as the investigation continues.
