A fuel depot worker survived a powerful explosion at a gasoline tanker in Pavlodar, Kazakhstan.
The blast occurred while the tanker was being filled with fuel. Footage from the scene shows the man walking on top of the vehicle just before the explosion. Despite the severity of the incident, the worker miraculously survived and was rushed to Pavlodar City Hospital No. 1.
The 69-year-old man spent two days in intensive care with burns covering approximately 20 percent of his body. He suffered burns to his respiratory tract, head, back, thighs, and hands, and also sustained fractures to both heel bones. Doctors describe his condition as serious but stable.
Officials credited the rapid and coordinated response of firefighters with preventing the blaze from spreading to nearby structures.
Medical specialists at the hospital confirmed that the victim was treated for a combination of injuries, including third-degree burns and multiple fractures. He has since been moved to the burns unit for continued care.
