Houston police are investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting that occurred early Friday morning at the Cityscape Apartments in southeast Houston.

Officers responded to the complex near Highway 288 and Almeda Genoa around 1:40 a.m. after a woman reported hearing a crash and seeing a man outside her apartment pointing a gun at her. She went back inside and called 911 for help.

When officers arrived, they located the man inside a Chevrolet Suburban near the entrance of the apartment complex. Police issued verbal commands, but at some point three officers fired their weapons, striking the man while he remained inside the vehicle. Paramedics later pronounced him dead at the scene.

The man, believed to be in his 50s, was found with multiple weapons in the vehicle, though authorities have not confirmed whether he fired at officers. It is also unclear whether he lived at the complex or had any connection to the woman who made the initial call.

Houston Police representatives described the incident as tragic and said homicide detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances. The officers involved have been placed on administrative duty pending the ongoing review.
