A businessman was shot and killed in the early morning hours in the municipality of Sítio Novo, in the interior of the Brazilian state of Maranhão.

The incident occurred at around 7:31 a.m. on Antônio Bandeira Street. According to initial information, the attackers approached the victim while simulating a robbery. Although the businessman did not resist, he was struck by gunfire and died at the scene.

After the shooting, the suspects fled the location and have not yet been identified. The Military Police were called to secure the area, and Civil Police teams have begun investigating the circumstances of the crime and working to identify those responsible. Authorities are determining whether the case should be classified as a robbery resulting in death or a targeted execution.
