Honduran lawmaker Gladis Aurora López was injured after an explosive device was thrown near her as she arrived at the National Congress in Tegucigalpa. The incident occurred amid heightened political tensions linked to legislative discussions taking place at the time.

The explosive detonated shortly after being launched from outside the Congress building, despite the presence of police and military security in the area. López was struck in the back and neck and required immediate medical assistance. She was treated on site before receiving further care inside the congressional facilities.

Following the attack, members of the National Party condemned the act of violence. The president of the National Congress ordered a review of security procedures and instructed authorities to analyse surveillance footage and emergency response records to identify those responsible.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. No suspects have been publicly identified, and the motive behind the attack remains under review.
