An off-duty police officer from Kingston shot another driver following a road rage confrontation in the Town of Wawayanda in Orange County, New York. The incident occurred Thursday afternoon around 3:45 p.m. on Dolsontown Road near McVeigh Road.

According to authorities, the conflict began between two vehicles — a Volkswagen and a Toyota pickup — after they cut each other off while driving. The driver of the Volkswagen, identified as 31-year-old Wallace Fisher of Middletown, exited his vehicle and approached the other driver, leading to a verbal dispute at the driver’s side window of the Toyota.

The situation escalated when Fisher allegedly pulled out a knife and struck toward the other driver. At that point, the driver of the Toyota, 33-year-old Anthony Simon, who is an off-duty Kingston police officer, discharged his firearm, striking Fisher. Cellphone video from the scene appears to show the confrontation and shooting.

Fisher was hit twice, in the neck and shoulder, and was taken to the hospital. He was reported to be in critical but stable condition after being transported to Westchester Medical Center for treatment.

State police are investigating the incident. The officer involved has been placed on administrative duty while the investigation continues. No charges have been filed at this time as authorities review video evidence and interview witnesses. The Kingston Police Department confirmed that Simon has been employed with the department since 2022.

State police and local law enforcement agencies are urging anyone who witnessed the confrontation to come forward as the investigation remains ongoing.
