Teresina, PI – The execution of Yara Beatriz da Silva Sousa, 24, in Vila Afonso Gil, in the southern zone of Teresina, continues to generate commotion and intense investigations by the Civil Police. The crime occurred on the afternoon of Sunday, December 7, 2025, when the young woman was surprised by a black vehicle that slowly approached Rua 5 de Dezembro. Security camera footage captured the moment when an occupant of the car called her over; she approached and received multiple shots, running a few meters before falling dead near a bar in the area.

Yara was the sister of Maria Eduarda da Silva Sousa, known as “Charmosinha do 15,” a woman with a history of arrests for involvement in criminal activities. The victim was also the niece of Eliezio Dias Pereira, who disappeared on June 29th in Grande Promorar, with skeletal remains found days later on Estrada da Alegria, intensifying suspicions of conflicts between rival groups. Police are working with two main hypotheses: one linked to drug trafficking, since Yara was allegedly a drug user, and another pointing to a settling of scores between factions, possibly the PCC, in retaliation for the murder of Luiz Gustavo, a teenager shot dead in October in the Promorar neighborhood.

The Homicide and Personal Protection Department (DHPP) has already identified two men in the black Fiat Punto used in the execution, including the alleged shooter, the brother of a neighbor of the victim. Teams are conducting investigations to locate and arrest the suspects, analyzing recordings and witness statements. The Forensic Medical Institute (IML) confirmed death by gunshot wounds, and the area was cordoned off for forensic examination.

Yara's family, still grieving, denies her involvement in any crimes and demands swift answers from the authorities. The southern zone of Teresina, known for disputes between factions, has seen increased police presence following the incident, with warnings for the public to avoid high-risk areas.

The murder reignites debates about urban violence in the capital of Piauí, with calls for more effective action against organized crime and protection for vulnerable neighborhoods such as Vila Afonso Gil and Promorar.
