MANILA – Philippine National Police acting chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. has ordered an aggressive manhunt to track down and arrest the suspects responsible for killing a barangay captain in Digos City, Davao del Sur, while he was live on Facebook.

According to Nartatez, investigators have already identified several persons of interest based on statements and names previously mentioned by the victim, Barangay Tres de Mayo Captain Oscar “Dodong” Bucol Jr., in his social media posts.

He directed all police units in Davao del Sur and neighboring provinces to mobilize tracker teams, conduct follow-up operations, and coordinate closely with local authorities to ensure the immediate arrest of the suspects.

Bucol was shot dead by unidentified attackers around 9 p.m. on November 25. The killing was captured in real time on his Facebook Live video.

Nartatez emphasized that police are committed to securing justice for Bucol and his family, noting that the directive aligns with the President’s instruction to resolve violent incidents involving local officials without delay.

A reward of PHP 2 million is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the suspects.

As operations continue, Nartatez urged residents to report any useful information and assured the public that security measures across the city have been strengthened to prevent further incidents.
