In Guayaquil, an attempted robbery on Av. Eloy Alfaro in the southern sector of the city ended with the death of a suspected thief.

According to initial reports, the individual approached a pickup truck and tried to rob the occupants. During the confrontation, he fired several shots at the vehicle in an effort to intimidate the victims.

The situation escalated when an armed occupant of the pickup responded, wounding the suspect. Emergency services arrived shortly afterward and confirmed that the man died at the scene.

Authorities are reviewing security footage and gathering statements to determine the full sequence of events and clarify responsibility in the exchange.
