Officers in Indian River County closed in on a suspect on Melrose Lane following reports of a stolen Ford F-350. Units kept sight of the pickup until it stopped by one home, prompting the occupant, 36-year-old Keith Rodgers, to rush indoors in an effort to slip enforcement efforts.

SWAT units moved in, setting up perimeters while officers believed Rodgers hid within the home’s loft. For hours, he resisted every urge to step out, with officials keeping slow, firm pressure on him to surrender.

The tense standoff ended in unexpected style when Rodgers lost footing inside the loft. He suddenly tumbled through the roof, hitting the floor below, where SWAT officers stood ready. Personnel took him into custody instantly, bringing the entire episode to its swift finish.
