A truck driver was detained early Sunday morning in the municipality of Azul, Buenos Aires Province, Argentina, after a traffic dispute led to the death of a motorcyclist.

The victim was identified as 46-year-old construction worker Diego Maximiliano Marianache, a resident of the Villa Fidelidad neighborhood. The 58-year-old truck driver was arrested and charged with simple homicide with eventual intent.

The fatal incident occurred on Saturday during a confrontation between the motorcyclist and the driver of a heavy Iveco Daily 70-16 tow truck on Calle España, between Avenida Mitre and Belgrano. Surveillance cameras captured the moment the truck driver maneuvered toward the motorcycle during the dispute, forcing the rider off balance and into a collision with a tree and the pavement. The motorcyclist died instantly.

Investigators ruled out mechanical failure in the truck. A female driver who was traveling behind both vehicles witnessed the entire event, called emergency services, and is now a key witness in the case.

Authorities continue to review video footage and collect statements to determine the full circumstances and responsibilities surrounding the fatal crash.
