A violent armed attack late Saturday night left one person dead and four others injured in the canton of Ventanas. The shooting occurred around 11:45 p.m., prompting an immediate emergency response.

According to authorities, five individuals sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment. One of the victims, identified as 17-year-old Cristhofer A. R., succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital.

Two of the wounded, including a woman, were later transferred to a medical center in Babahoyo for specialized care.

Police have launched an investigation to determine the motive behind the attack and to identify those responsible. So far, no arrests have been reported.

This incident adds to growing concerns over escalating violence in the Los Ríos province, where authorities continue to strengthen security measures in response to recent criminal activity.
