A serious collision occurred at a guarded railway crossing on Laageinde in Meteren, Gelderland. Video footage shows a truck with a trailer positioned on the tracks just moments before a passing train struck the vehicle.

The train was carrying around two hundred passengers. Four passengers and the truck driver sustained minor injuries.

The lead train car came to a stop beside the tracks but did not overturn. A second train traveling in the opposite direction grazed the stopped train car, causing light damage to its exterior. The truck’s cargo was scattered across the railway tracks and into the surrounding area.

Rail traffic in the Geldermalsen region was suspended following the crash. The Dutch Safety Board has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the incident.
